Small [<5.0µm] circular species of Tenebrislaminam Varol (in prep.) have a narrow central area. The single-cycled proximal shield consists of non-imbricated segments with almost radial sutures. The distal shield is made up of imbricated segments (sutures display left-handed inclination). Both proximal and distal shields are non-birefringent. The cycle of elements around the central opening at the proximal shield is birefringent but not intact most of the time due to the impact of adverse preservational conditions. This cycle of elements is possibly created by bending the inner end of segments from the distal shield.
Tenebrislaminam jafarii is distinguished from Tenebrislaminam eaquiscutum (Gartner, 1967) Varol, n. comb. and Tenebrislaminam lordii (Varol, 1982) Varol, n. comb. by being smaller and having a smaller central opening.
