Medium to large [5.0-10.0µm], elliptical species of Cribrocentrum Perch-Nielsen,1971c having a central area with prominent non-porous birefringent mesh.

Cribrocentrum antillarum differs from similar size Reiculofenestra Hay, Mohler & Wade, 1966 species by having a permanent birefringent central mesh in polarised light. It is distinguished from Cribrocentrum gartneri (Roth & Hay in Hay et al., 1967) Varol, n. comb. by having non-porous central mesh whilst later having porous mesh. Cribrocentrum lockeri Müller, 1970 is separated from Cribrocentrum antillarum by being larger than 12.0µm. Similar specimens with broad tube cycles should be classified into different species.
