Discoaster emblematicus de Kaenel & Bergen in de Kaenel et al. 2017

Description

Emended Description: Hexagonal symmetrical species have a wide, flat central area and short, robust arms that terminate in wrenched-like bifurcation. The inter-arm area is rounded. The distal side is ornamented with indistinct sutural ridges.

Remarks

Discoaster emblematicus differs from Discoaster deflandrei by having sutural ridges on the distal side and wrenched-like bifurcations. The central area of Discoaster deflandrei is featureless, and its bifurcations are rounded. Discoaster emblematicus is distinguished from Discoaster hughesii by lacking proximal bulging with ridges.
