Helicolith has a Type I (Helicosphaeroides ampliaperta type) blanket, expanded flange termination and a narrow elongated central opening with an oblique conjunct bar.
Helicosphaera mullerae differs from Helicosphaera californiana (Bukry, 1981) Varol, n. comb. by having a conjunct oblique bar.
