Final Epithet
Esgia chronolitha (Bukry, 1969) Varol, n. comb.
Basionym

Cyclagelosphaera? chronolitha Bukry, 1969

Synonyms

Coccolithites circumradiatus Stover, 1966 – This species was not validly published under ICN Art. 35.1 because the generic name Coccolithites was not validly published. Consequently, Haqius Roth, 1978, with Coccolithites circumradiatus designated as its type species, is considered not validly published under Arts. 6.3, 10.3 and 40.1, because its designated type-species name was not validly published. Subsequent combinations based on Coccolithites circumradiatus are also not validly published as new combinations because their proposed basionym was invalid (Arts. 6.10 and 41.1).

non - Markalius circumradiatus (Stover, 1966) Perch-Nielsen, 1968c

Esgia junior Worsley, 1971

Cyclococcolithus circumradiatus (Stover, 1966) Locker, 1973

Haqius circumradiatus (Stover, 1966) Roth, 1978

The combinations based on Coccolithites circumradiatus were not validly published because their proposed basionym was invalid (ICN Arts. 6.10 and 41.1).
