Type Species

Ahmuellerella limbitenuis Reinhardt, 1964

Synonyms

Actinozygus Gartner, 1968

Optical Properties

In plan view under cross-polarised light, the wall and the proto inner wall remain in constant extinction, whereas the central structures exhibit interference colours.

Remarks

Loxoliths are characterised by a single wall, associated with a proto inner wall, and by central structures supporting a distal process with a stellate calix. In Amaurolithus octoradiatus, the central axial cross consists of four paired arms diverging from the centre towards the wall. In contrast, Amaurolithus regularis possesses eight equally spaced radiating paired arms that collectively completely cover the central area.
