Description

Small (<5.0 µm) circular species of Tenebrolamina Varol (in prep.) have a narrow central area. The single-cycled proximal shield consists of non-imbricated segments with almost radial sutures. The distal shield is made up of imbricated segments (sutures display left-handed inclination). Both proximal and distal shields are non-birefringent. The cycle of elements around the central opening at the proximal shield is birefringent but is not intact most of the time due to the impact of adverse preservational conditions. This cycle of elements may be created by bending the inner ends of segments of the distal shield.

Remarks

Tenebrolamina jafarii is distinguished from Tenebrolamina eaquiscutum (Gartner, 1967a) Varol, n. comb. and Tenebrolamina lordii (Varol, 1982) Varol, n. comb. by being smaller and having a smaller central opening.
