Small Glaukolithus species characterised by a transverse bar composed of three narrow, parallel segments of similar strength. Under crossed polars, the median segment remains in constant extinction, whereas the two outer segments display first-order white interference colours at 0°.
From Latin medius, middle and tenebrae, darkness, referring to the median segment remaining dark throughout rotation under crossed polars.
