Glaukolithus trichotrichus Varol, in prep.
Glaukolithus species are characterised by a transverse bar composed of three parallel segments, of which the median segment is much narrower and more delicate than the two outer segments. Under crossed polars, the transverse bar shows a braided-hair appearance at about a 45° orientation.
From Greek tricha, in three parts and thrix, trichos, hair, referring to the three parallel segments of the transverse bar and its braided-hair appearance under crossed polars.
