Retecapsa pentalateralis Varol, in prep.
From Greek penta (five) and Latin lateralis (lateral), referring to the five lateral bars per quadrant.
Species of Retecapsa comprise a cretarhabdid pelaga sloping towards the central area, composed of inclined segments that are showing weak clockwise imbrication, rarely absent, and a distally arched central area characterised by an indistinct axial cross supporting a solid distal process.
The inter-cross area is occupied by lateral bars that delimit pores arranged in a single complete concentric cycle. Each quadrant typically contains six pores formed by five lateral bars, a feature characteristic of Retecapsa pentalateralis.
Optical properties consistent with those of Retecapsa.
