Diploteichus caliginosus Varol, in prep.
Diploteichus species are characterised by a dark transverse structure apparently composed of three fused bars, of which the median bar is distinctly darker and becomes indistinguishable in certain orientations.
From Latin caliginosus, dark, obscure or indistinct, referring to the dark transverse structure and the variable visibility of its median bar under different orientations.
