Watznaueria diaphanae Worsley, 1971
In plan view under cross-polarised light, the shields display white interference colours that diminish towards the periphery, where only the distal shield is present. The narrow, elongate central area shows dimmer interference colours relative to the shields. Watznaueria diaphanae displays inclined extinction lines and length-fast (–) elongation.
Small- to medium-sized (3.0–7.0 µm), elliptical species of Watznaueria, with a distal shield larger than the proximal shield and a poorly defined, narrow, elongate central area.
